I get this from Toni Jones (SSC equipment manager) a lot...."When I look out on the field I see our p_layer_s wearing different shorts and different socks but I see our opponents all wearing the same - I don't get it?"

I would tend to agree...our p_layer_s seem to have a very low opinion of themselves when it comes to the game day presentation. They may wear black shorts like they are supposed to but they are a different brand and a different _style_ and look different, same with the socks. Some teams even have two p_layer_s wearing the same numbered jersey on the field...how does this happen? Toni does a enourmous job organizing kits for every team in the club in order to have Semiahmoo SC looking like one of the sharpest around (to the extent that each set of team jerseys has the same font for the numbering).

So I would like to ask what are the issues surrounding inconsistent uniforms on game days and what can Semiahmoo SC do to raise our standard of on field presentation?

What I hear from my p_layer_s is they dont like the shorts(no offense intended)so they just wear a black umbro pair. Socks you have to have at least 3 pairs a week to keep up with amount of times we practice.
My 2 cents

We should have our teams wearing the same socks, shorts and jerseys for a game. Looking like a 'team' does help you play better as a team. For rep teams the club should have standard game gear AND practice gear. Even if it means bumping up fees to have the p_layer_s outfitted with club gear - it goes far in building club character and identity. Similar gear will also allow for gear exchange (jackets, pants, practice jerseys, etc).

I have polled my teams' parents. All agree we need at least 2 pairs of socks to keep up with number of practices and games. Also some p_layer_s are using socks/shorts from previous years. Agree we need to have p_layer_s all wearing club approved gear at games.

I agree that p_layer_s on a team should wear the same gear so that they look like a team. I have asked p_layer_s on my daughters' teams about the club uniforms and most of them do not like the club issued game shorts, which is why many p_layer_s wear their own black shorts on game days.
It was sugested that rep teams should have club issued training gear, with the possibility of raising the fees to cover this. The fees are already high for rep teams, not to mention all the additional costs of tournaments etc. Why can't the rep teams have a standard training uniform that is the same each year? That way a p_layer_ who stays on a rep team does not have to buy a new training kit each year.
