The Christie McGlashan Memorial Bursary provides assistance to eligible Semiahmoo Soccer players who are registered in a post-secondary institution.
Application
deadline is the end of day, on the last day of February of the applicant’s
graduating season.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for this Bursary, the applicant must:
1. have been a member in good standing a minimum of five (5) consecutive years, with the last year being U18. Note: exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis where the Club did not field a team at the level of play appropriate to the applicant for U18.
2. submit their application in accordance with the Application Procedure below.
3. attend a post-secondary education or training institution by April 1 in the year following the year of application.
Application Procedure:
Applicants (and not parents) are to provide a letter or email stating their eligibility for this bursary and a brief narrative describing their experiences with Semiahmoo Soccer Club. Letters should be sent to the Club's mailing address (see below) and include a return mail and email address. Email applications should be sent to president@semiahmoosoccer.com .
Application deadline is the end of day, on the last day of February. By making their application, the applicant agrees to the publishing of their name (only) on the Club's website for purposes of announcing successful bursary applicants.
Award Procedure:
Applicants will be contacted via return email regarding the success of their application, and will be requested to attend the Club's April Annual General Meeting to receive their bursary certificate.
Payment Procedure:
Once the successful applicant is enrolled at their post-secondary education or training institution, they need to mail a copy of their tuition receipt or equivalent confirmation of attendance to Semiahmoo Soccer Club, Box 75367 White Rock, BC V4B 5L5. Also, this payment request needs to include the desired check payee and mailing address information.
Once received, a check for $350 will be issued by the Club within 3 weeks or so to the designated payee and mailed to the address provided in the payment request.
Bursary payment eligibility will expire April 1 in the year following the year of application.
