25 Years of Soccer Excellence (1981 - 2006)
Semiahmoo Soccer Club started as three teams in 1979. Today, we have over 100 teams with female players in ages 5 - 50 that compete in various leagues in South Surrey and greater Vancouver area. The club is located in South Surrey , just 30 kilometers southeast of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Semiahmoo SC teams have had a long history of success, from league play and tournaments to cups at the district, provincial and national levels. Our teams compete in the South District League, BC Coastal Girls region, Girls Metro Soccer League, BC Women's Soccer League, and the Pacific Coast Soccer League. Our young teams play in the Semiahmoo Soccer League (SSL), a developmental league that we run internally.
Semiahmoo players have had success with their teams and beyond. Many of our players participate in the Provincial Teams Program with a good number selected for the Canadian national team pool. Our players have lead their high school teams and have gone on to have successful university careers. The Club philosophy is to develop players so that they are prepared to compete at the next level.
An elected board of directors and officers governs the club. However, the Club's success is due to the extraordinary contributions of volunteers, from team managers to age group coordinators. Qualified coaches are selected and approved by the board of directors. An independent team of evaluators makes decisions on recruitment, acceptance of players and team selection. The club does not rank teams within the same age group for the purpose of "promoting" stronger players or "demoting" weaker players.
