Youth Girls Fall/Winter 2008-09 Season

Online Registration

Registration has been closed for the following age groups U18 (1991), U17 (1992), U13 (1996), U12 (1997), U11 (1998) as these teams are now full.

Many other age groups are nearly full and late registrants may be placed on wait lists.

Please read all information below before proceeding with your online registration.

Before you can complete the online registration, you must login as a 'Member' of the SSC web site.
Go to the top right corner of this page and login or register before continuing!

Once you have read and understand the fall/winter 2008-09 season registration information, click on the registration link below and begin completing the online form.

Please confirm all registration information before sending it to the Club.

**For information on Boys Fall programs, please see the Peace Arch Soccer Club's website.

Once you have completed the form and sent it electronically, you will receive an email confirming that your registration information has been received and providing you with the Semiahmoo Soccer Club's mailbox address if you need to send fees, proof of birth, and/or player ID photos.

Payment can be made by cheque or money order, mailed directly to the Club, or through PayPal once you have completed your online registration information.

Please send all fees owing, proof of birth and player ID photos to Semiahmoo Soccer Club within 7 days of registration.

Cheques for fees and player ID photos must be correctly marked with player's name and birth year.

INCOMPLETE REGISTRATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED!

Player registrations for the Club's U5/6 Introduction to Soccer and U7-18 Recreation League programs will be handled on a first come, first serve basis.

Receipt of a player's registration information, fees and other documents does not necessarily guarantee a player's team/program placement.  Many factors must be considered in organizing this team sport, including balancing teams (players' abilities as well as team maximums and number of teams in each age group), recruitment of volunteer coaches and their availability as well as facility and field availability. Player registrations may not be able to be confirmed early on. Recreation-level players will be notified by mid to late August of their status.

Players and families can help the process by completing their registrations (sending registration information as well as fees, ID photos, proof of birth owed to the Club) in a timely manner.

If you will have difficulty meeting the deadline above, or require further information, please contact the SSC Registrar:

Youth Girls Soccer Programs

The Club offers a recreation-level league program for girls born 1991 through 2002, and a rep team program for players born 1991 through 1998, as well as an ‘Introduction to Soccer' program for young players born 2003-2004.

New and experienced players are welcome to join the recreation-level leagues for each age group. All rep team players for the upcoming season's Metro, Gold, Silver and Select teams were chosen during the player evaluation sessions held during April and May 2008.

Recreation-level League programs for players born 1991 through 2002 will begin in September 2008 and run through to mid-March 2009.

Rep Team programs for selected players born 1991 through 1998 will run through the Fall and Winter 2008-09 with schedules available from individual team officials and leagues in late August.

Introduction to Soccer for players born in 2003 (U6) and 2004 (U5) will be offered during two 10-week sessions.

Session 1: October - December 2008

Session 2: January - March 2009

Program information -

  • This program is available for those players who are beginning soccer or those who are curious to see what soccer is all about.
  • Practices will be held once each week, Wednesdays or Thursdays in local elementary school gyms, 5-6pm or 6-7pm.
  • The program is run as a Jamboree/summer camp format with no assigned teams; the program's main focus will be player development, introduction to soccer and, most importantly, lots of fun.
  • Two mini games will be scheduled each session, 3v3 format with no goalies, on a Sunday afternoon. Two parent volunteers from each time slot/location will be required to assist with each team for these games.
  • While no parent coaches/volunteers are required for the regular practice sessions, parent assistance is appreciated and encouraged.
  • Program implementation and running of weekly practice sessions will be completed by the Club's technical staff coaches

$25.00 per registration (U7-U18) will be charged beginning July 01, to maximum of $50.00 per family.

No new U7-U18 registrations will be accepted after October 31, 2008.

Capital Facility Fees

A $35.00 Capital Facility Fee is included in the registration fees above (except for U5/6). This fee was approved by the membership at the Club's April 2007 Annual General Meeting and will be used to fund a Capital Facilities Account in order to fund new soccer facilities as well as contribute to improvements to current facilities in South Surrey/White Rock.

Currently, all of the grass facilities in South Surrey and the Turf Field are filled to capacity on weeknights and weekends. In some age groups, Semiahmoo is already turning players away because of this lack of facilities; what will it be like in three years when the 1,000 new homes being built in Grandview are fully occupied?

To address this field shortage crisis, Peace Arch Soccer Club and Semiahmoo Soccer Club are working together with the City of Surrey on expanded and new soccer facilities. This has resulted in the current construction of a second turf field at South Surrey Athletic Park. However, due to budget constraints, the 2 Clubs are contributing approximately $290,000 to pay for a turf warm-up area which will service both turf fields and provide much needed additional field space for training. Such user-based financial contributions will now be required in order to get the full scope of facilities required.

Fitness Tax Credit

In 2006, the federal government announced the creation of a "Fitness Tax Credit" for certain physical activities. The Club's position is that soccer is an activity that is eligible for this tax credit. Criteria for credit eligibility:
  • Registration fees paid for in 2008, to a maximum of $500
  • Activities occurring in 2008
  • Fees paid for children under 16 at anytime in 2008 are eligible

The Activity portion of the Spring Soccer 2008 and Fall 2008-09 season registration fees, excluding Capital Facility Fees and Volunteer would be eligible for this credit. The Club will provide receipts as required after December 2008 for this purpose. If you want more information on the Fitness Tax Credit, please visit Canada Revenue Agency's website .
