U21 PCSL College Showcase Program

Semiahmoo Soccer Club is pleased to announce its continued participation in the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) in the spring of 2010.

The PCSL is a highly competitive league for men and women who compete in premier and reserve divisions within a season that runs typically from May to August. Recently celebrating its 75th anniversary, the PCSL is one of the oldest soccer leagues in the entire Pacific Northwest with member clubs from the BC interior, the Fraser Valley, the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and Washington State.

Semiahmoo SC will be fielding an U21 College showcase team starting in the spring of 2010.

The team will be populated with players who have the desire and potential to play at a college or university level. The team will play in the PCSL Women's U21 Reserve league which is comprised of teams such as Kamloops Heat, Penticton Pinnacles, and Kelowna United. This U21 team will be coached by Mark McQueen, the Head Coach for Semiahmoo Soccer Club, with assistance from other full-time professional coaches such as Greg Berry, a former English Premiership player, and Chris Johnson, a former Simon Fraser University player.

Mark McQueen commented that "It is widely accepted that Semiahmoo SC has a great reputation for developing players who have gone on to play at national, university and college levels. Most recently, Jenna Richardson received her first U20 National Team "international cap" and a full scholarship to a top U.S. university. Nicole Setterlund has again been selected to the U17 National Team and has a bright future ahead of her. These players' successes are in addition to those of numerous players who have gone on to receive college scholarships following on from the Club's PCSL program. It's no surprise then that Semiahmoo SC players and teams are watched closely by university and college scouts, given the Club’s reputation.
