Message from the President

Darryl Jones President Semiahmoo Soccer ClubSemiahmoo SC has grown to 1,000 youth girls and nearly 150 women playing all levels of soccer in the South Surrey / White Rock community, and become one of the largest soccer clubs in the Lower Mainland.

Towards achieving our primary goal of establishing a pre-eminent soccer training environment for elite and recreational players in our community, we now have some of the finest soccer facilities in the Lower Mainland available to us at South Surrey Athletic Park. This includes the new turf warm-up area extension to Field #9, which was paid for by our Club in conjunction with Peace Arch Soccer Club - a first in the City of Surrey.

More importantly, we have been able to take a giant step forward with the April 1, 2009 hiring of Mark McQueen as our Head Coach. As a true soccer development leader, Mark will be restructuring our technical development programming while leading us to achieving our primary goal.

With play now taking place virtually year round, we continue to be challenged to meet the needs of our members - challenges that can only be resolved with the help of our members.

Some of our initiatives for the coming year include:

  • convergence (not a merger) with Peace Arch Soccer Club
  • the integration of our new Club logo into our Club Wear
  • an enhanced community awareness of our Club

However, our only hope of achieving the above is through the support of member volunteers coming forward, like yourself. In this regard, I urge you to consider becoming an active participant in our Club.

Opportunities for volunteers are listed on the constantly-changing "Volunteers" page on this site, which range from one-off tasks to Executive roles.

As always, please drop me a line on any aspect of the Club - Click here to send an email directly to me.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Darryl Jones
President
